Troubleshooting

The messages MakeSBS3D shows, what they mean and what to do. For anything else, the Console (⌘.) holds the full log.

3D AVC+MVC track missing

The MKV holds only one view. MakeMKV leaves the Mpeg4 MVC track unchecked by default, so rip the disc again with it checked, as shown under Extracting with MakeMKV. A 2D Blu-ray has no such track at all.

Not generated by MakeMKV

The MKV came from another tool, and those drop the second view when they remux. Make the file with MakeMKV.

There is no Disc button

The button shows when MakeMKV is installed in the Applications folder. Install it from makemkv.com, or move it there, and open MakeSBS3D again. The button lights up once a Blu-ray is in the drive.

No 3D titles on the disc

MakeMKV lists the disc's titles, but none has an MVC view. The disc is a 2D edition, or a 3D edition whose 3D sits on a second disc in the box.

Not enough space in the output folder

A disc title needs room for the extracted MKV plus 2 GB in the output folder before it starts, and a conversion needs room for the movie it writes. Free up space or pick another folder under Output, or in Settings → Defaults → Output.

The picture is too dark

Many 3D discs are mastered dark for the cinema. Turn on Boost mid levels under Output and convert again. It lifts the midtones scene by scene.

The depth is inside out

A few discs have the two views the other way round, so near things look far. Turn on Swap left/right eyes under Output and convert again.

The conversion stops at five minutes

That is the trial. The file name ends in _TRIAL. Enter a license key under License… in the MakeSBS3D menu, see License.

Could not write to the output folder

macOS lets MakeSBS3D write only where you have pointed it. Click the folder icon under Output and pick the folder again, which grants the permission. The same dialog appears on its own the first time a movie on an external drive is opened.

Conversion failed

Open the Console and read the last lines. A MakeMKV message means the extraction failed, an ffmpeg message the conversion. When the log makes no sense, send it to support@makesbs3d.com with the name of the disc.
